U.S. Internet users watched 11.5 billion online videos in March 2008, a 13 percent increase over February and a 64 percent boost over March of 2007 according to comScore Video Metrix.
Google was again the top U.S. video property with more than 4.3 billion videos viewed (38% share of all videos) gaining 2.6 shares over the previous month. YouTube made up 98 percent of all videos viewed at Google Sites.

There is a trend emerging: online giants making it so users can take their social networks with them anywhere they go on the web, sort of like digital carpooling. Google threw in its offering today, or will tonight anyway, with Google Friend Connect, a wash-n-wear service for incorporating social networking into non-social-networking websites.

The creator of a phony Facebook profile set up in the name of an Indiana high school dean could soon be revealed.
Roncalli High School Dean Tim Puntarelli filed a lawsuit against the social networking site seeking information regarding the profile creator’s identity. Facebook’s privacy policy requires a court order to release any information about its members. The profile was removed after it had been reported to be fake.

It looks bad enough when any executive quits a company. Making the matter potentially worse for Facebook is the fact that Adam D’Angelo served as its chief technology officer. And strangely, it seems that the CTO position will be eliminated as he leaves.

Twitter doesn’t always work well; its frequent outages have earned it all sorts of negative attention. It has at least partially redeemed itself, though, as Twitter was one of the first sites on which news of the earthquake in China appeared.

Facebook is borrowing $100 million to accommodate growth on the site. The money, from venture loan firm TriplePoint, brings the amount raised to around $350 million.
The site has grown quickly and needs around 50,000 more servers to handle the load. Facebook has over 70 million active users and around 109 million monthly visitors.

Facebook has announced an agreement with 49 U.S. state attorneys general and the District of Columbia to take significant steps to protect children on the social networking site.
The move comes after a similar agreement was reached with MySpace in January. The Facebook agreement is aimed at better protecting children from online predators and inappropriate content.
